SoapNet Weekly Interview With New Mulholland Heights Star, Madeline Parker:

SNW: Madeline, hi. I hear this is your first official gig.
MP: It is. I've done a few commercials, a few movie extra things, but this if my first extra role.

SNW: Do you actually watch the show?
MP: I have before. I'm like every other girl out there, soaps are totally my guilty pleasure.

SNW: Tell us about your character.
MP: Well her name is Marisol de Luna, and she's new to the Heights. I can't really say much at this point. Just that she's there to shake things up a bit with everyone else.

SNW: What else would she be there for?
MP: I know, right?

SNW: Do you think you're anything like your character? Do you find yourself shaking things up a bit?
MP: Not really. I spent most of my life in suburb before going away to boarding school. I've lived out here, ever since, just trying to land a role. I guess this is my lucky break.

SNW: Let's hope so. Thanks for talking with us. You can see Madeline starting next week on Mulholland Heights on ABC in the daytime.
Make Up
Every mirror she passes by, she can't help but glance in. She tries to make it casual. Like it's just a passing glimpse. Or as if she's not really looking at herself at all.

During the day, she makes excuses at least once if not more than that every hour to go to the bathroom to make sure that her make up is still flawless and that every hair is perfectly in place. Not a single wrinkle in her clothing, or a mark on her shoes.

It's an obsession, her appearance, born from years of being taunted at her private boarding school for being the ugly girl. The plain one. The girl that everyone looked right through. At some point, after they'd all graduated and left and went their own ways, around the time she'd turned 19, she suddenly became beautiful.

The baby fat thinned out into hollowed spaces lined with toned muscle underneath. Her face thinned too, pronouncing the cheekbones that had once been hidden. Over one single summer and with only a little effort, Madeline Parker became beautiful.

And she never, not for a single hour afterward, let herself forget it.
